Q: What’s your favorite song from the 90’s?
A: Tie between MMMBop by Hanson and WannaBe by Spice Girls. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the 90’s rock and grunge scene, but pop music will always have my heart.
Q: What is your hot beverage of choice?
A: A latte is my first choice at almost any time. But if it’s raining and I have the day just to sit and read, then a pot of tea with a little bit of cream and sugar is the ideal companion to such a perfect day.
Q: What is your emotional response to the color yellow?
A: Totally depends on the context. I love yellow in nature. When the leaves change colors or in a perfect dandelion – nothing better. On manufactured items, it can be a bit abrasive.
Q: What is the weirdest pet you have ever had?
A: I had a betta fish whose name was T-Shane based off an SNL character that I loved. He was more of a lover than a fighter and refused to get riled up except if it was dinner time. When he did pass, I made sure to flush him down a toilet that was on the top floor of our building so he would have an ultimate ride out.
Q: If you could have a conversation with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
A: Probably Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph. I love these smart, funny women and just want to be their friend.
Q: What was your favorite TV show growing up?
A: Jem! The show’s main character had a dual identity, but her real name was Jerrica Benton – I loved it! I also was a big fan of Rugrats, Doug, Voltron, X-men, Hey Arnold, Mickey Mouse Club, Duck Tales, Fraggle Rock, Animaniacs, She-Ra, Muppet Babies, David the Gnome, Care Bears, Rocky and Bullwinkle…. We watched a lot of TV.
Q: If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
A: Teleportation – How cool would it be to think of a place and then just be there.
Q: What does your name mean/does it suit you?
A: Jessica has a few meanings. It can mean Gift from God, or God Beholds or Wealthy. I’ve always liked my name. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was that there were a lot of Jessica’s when I was growing up. I’ve always wanted to stand out a bit, and that’s a bit hard when you have Jessica B., Jessie H. and Jessica P. all in your classroom.
Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: I love the mornings and have always been a morning person. I also love my bed. While there can be some internal conflict over how much longer I can sleep in, I want to see what each day holds and am excited to start my day.
Q: Do you have any irrational fears?
A: I am afraid of rodents – but I don’t think this is irrational. Rats are disgusting, and no one should want them around them. My most irrational fear is that I will come across a dead body at some point. I have no idea when that fear popped up but sorry if its a bit macabre.
Q: What would the title of your memoir be?
A: I have a few options:
These are happy tears.
Eat, Pray, Laugh.
In search of air conditioning.
Q: If you were a color, what would you be and why?
A: Probably blue – just because it’s my favorite.
Q: What are three things still left on your bucket list?
A: See the Northern Lights
Adventure across Australia and New Zealand
Read 100 books in 1 year
Q: Who was your favorite teacher and why?
A: Mr. Modica. He was my high school choir teacher. I was really shy in high school, and the choir was my refuge. Mr. Modica had a passion for music that he ignited in us. We learned to be disciplined and desire greatness while also having so much fun. I love that balance that he struck.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I hated this question growing up because I never knew how to answer. I had a few things that I liked but had no idea how to turn that into a profession. I liked music but didn’t want to be a musician. I liked animals but didn’t want to be a vet. Is there a profession in being indecisive?
Q: Which three words best describe you?
A: Fun, Inquisitive, Loving
Q: If you could travel in time, would you go to the past or the future? Why?
A: Past, There are so many things that I would love to experience first hand. To see places before civilization overwhelmed them would be so amazing. I would also really want to go and listen to all of Jesus’ sermons and teachings.
Q: How would you like to be remembered?
A: Fun, Inquisitive, Loving. ?
Q: Do you have any random pastimes you enjoy?
A: I love reading. I like seeing things and trying to make up backstories for them, the crazier the story, the better. I like going to open houses even though I’m not in the market. I like exploring new cities and getting lost for a little while. I like listening to live music and looking at art unhurried. I like singing and making up nonsense songs. I like to take naps on a raft in a pool. I like meeting new people and finding out their stories. I like helping others and providing things they wouldn’t think they needed.
Q: How would you describe what you do at work to a child?
A: I learn everything I can about a business or person, and then I write about them so that new people can hear their stories or understand them better.
We like having her around to write those stories. We hope you enjoyed meeting our staff, stay tuned for more posts about all things related to Creative 7 Designs and what we do here.
