Meet Our Team: Q & A with Jacqueline

Meet Jacqueline, our newest team member at Creative 7 Designs! Jacqueline received her MFA in Creative Writing and Critical Studies from California Institute of the Arts. You can often find her in the aisle of a used bookstore reading poetry out loud to a friend. She enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, and all things outdoors. She dreams of one day living on a homestead with goats, chickens, and a large vegetable garden. We asked her to answer a few questions so you could get to know her, here’s what she had to say:

Q: What’s your favorite song from the 90’s?
A: The 90’s was a great decade for music, so it’s hard to pick just one. Let’s go with the entire soundtrack to Sister Act 2.
Q: What is your hot beverage of choice?
A: Peppermint Mocha, every day of the year.
Q: What is your emotional response to the color yellow?
A: I saw a woman in a sunflower yellow, denim jumpsuit at a cafe the other day. It was incredible.
Q: What is the weirdest pet you have ever had?
A: Not a weird pet per se, but my sister once had a fish named Banana that would follow us around the room in its tank. If we danced, it would bob back and forth with us. If we stuck our fingers in the water, it would brush up against them. It was the best fish ever. R.I.P. Banana.
Q: If you could have a conversation with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
A: Fiona Apple. Preferably we would become best friends afterward.
Q: What was your favorite TV show growing up?
A: Too many childhood favorites: Moesha, Pepper Ann, All That, Pete and Pete.
Q: If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
A: Telekinesis. Since I was a kid, I’ve consistently had dreams where I was telekinetic. To this day, I continue to wake up from these dreams by stretching out my hand and attempting to move something.
Q: What does your name mean/does it suit you?
A: Apparently, my name means “supplanter,” which basically tells me that I’m going to be the one who sits on the Iron Throne at the end of ASOIAF. So, yes.
Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: My cat, every morning at 4 am, without fail.
Q: Do you have any irrational fears?
A: That my brain is slowly disintegrating.
Q: What would the title of your memoir be?
A: Liturgy of the Unflattering
or
A History of Running Away
Q: If you were a color, what would you be and why?
A:  Green. If there is such thing as other lives, I was probably a tree in one of them.
Q: What are three things still left on your bucket list?
A: Traveling to Vietnam
Reading all the books on my bookshelf
Learning to enjoy eating pickles
Q: Who was your favorite teacher and why?
A: My Comp Lit professor, Jerry Farber. On ratemyprofessor.com, a student of his once said they would like to listen in on a conversation between Professor Farber and God. He was that impressive.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I thought I was going to be a professional musician, playing percussion for symphonies in concert halls around the world.
Q: Which three words best describe you?
A: Very. Proud. Hufflepuff.
Q: If you could travel in time, would you go to the past or the future? Why?
A: It’s so tempting to want to travel back in time to fix past mistakes. Going forward in time would only ruin the surprise.
Q: How would you like to be remembered?
A: Attempting to answer this would only send me down a black hole of existential angst.
Q: Do you have any random pastimes you enjoy?
A: I like to knit. I once binged the BBC/SyFy show Merlin while knitting Christmas gifts for my entire family.
Q: How would you describe what you do at work to a child?
A: I write things for other people.
